Humility, a sense of mission, hard work, and contributing meaningfully have been the keys to my successes and happiness. This has been true, perhaps even more so in the face of the more challenging situations. I have to thank my parents and the people who have touched my life to help me learn the life lessons that have allowed me achieve the many large and small successes in my life.
I have lived in and compared different regions most of my life and moved to a different country entirely where I could experiencing and work in several different countries. Through all of this, I have come to recognize "diversity" as a powerful word that has been both a bit frustrating and the most valuable contributor to my success and happiness.
I have successfully adapted to and learned more about diversity through experiencing:
- different cities from a those with a population of a few hundred to some of the largest cities in the world
- different regions within the same country where although the language is the same, the culture can be quite different
- different employers and colleagues, some ruled with an iron fist, others quite entrepreneurial and dynamic
Through mentoring, celebrating others contributions, and inspiring both myself and my colleagues I found that the resulting meaningful work and satisfaction have been significant rewards and satisfaction for those of us who shared time working together.
